Abstract: Molecular catalysts attached to the surface of materials promise an attractive array of attributes: high activity, selectivity and stability; straightforward separation of products from the catalyst; and facile catalyst recycling. But which support material should be used for a particular application, and which attachment groups will impart stability and retain the desired catalytic properties? This webinar will review methods for attaching molecular transition metal complexes to surfaces for use as thermal and electrochemical catalysis. Opportunities and challenges in this approach will be discussed.
