  • Personal Statement:
Originally from Annapolis, MD, but grew up in rural Thurmont, MD. I pursued my undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently, I am studying redox-switchable polymerizations in the Byers group at Boston College. I a member of Alpha Chi Sigma and enjoy cooking, rock climbing and dancing.
Research Description:

I have been studying the redox-switchable polymerization of iron catalysts of NCAs to make polyamide copolymers. In the CIC, I am applying my previous experience towards N-carboxyanhydride (NCA) polymerization to grow NCAs off of solid supports and use electrochemistry as the redox-switch. We will be combining this system with a system to make NCAs from amino acids from carbon dioxide to be able to go directly from amino acids to polyamides.

Outside of the center, I am currently working towards the redox-switchable polymerization of lactide, propylene oxide and carbon dioxide to make block copolymers of poly(lactic acid) and poly(propylene carbonate).
